2009 Legislative Year Kicks Off

The 2009 legislative year kicked off this week with Michigan’s two new U.S. Congressmen, Reps. Gary Peters (D-Bloomfield Hills) and Mark Schauer (D-Battle Creek), being sworn into the 111th Congress on Monday, January 5.

Peters represents the 9th District and Schauer represents the 7th District. At the state level, the spring legislative session will begin  January 14. Forty-six new faces join the Michigan House – click here for a list of all Representatives.  If you’d like to look up the Representatives and other elected officials who represent you, visit MPCA’s Grassroots Action Center. Once you log in and provide your address, a list of your elected officials will be generated.

And don’t forget about MPCA’s Legislative Forum, which will be held on February 19 in Lansing. This year’s Forum is co-sponsored by the Michigan County Health Plan Association, and registration is now open.
