The Michigan Primary Care Association, Michigan Dental Association, Michigan Oral Health Coalition, and other partners are hosting a Legislative Day in Lansing on July 15 to appeal for reinstatement of the Medicaid adult dental benefit. This benefit was eliminated effective July 1 per Executive Order 2009-22 and may likely continue to be eliminated from the state’s fiscal year 2010 budget.
The Medicaid dental benefit is a vital service for hundreds of thousands of Michigan adults who rely on it to maintain a healthy mouth and body. People with untreated dental disease suffer needless pain and end up in hospital emergency rooms, which is far more costly than seeing a dentist.
Please join us at the Michigan Dental Association (230 N. Washington Square, Suite 208, Lansing) on Wednesday, July 15 at 1 pm to gather materials and talking points, then head out to meet with your state legislators to tell them that reinstating the Medicaid adult dental benefit is the fiscally and morally responsible choice. Please call your legislators’ offices prior to July 15 to set up meetings. The time is NOW to voice your opinion! Collectively we CAN make a difference.
