The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced during the Flu Summit on July 9 the launch of a 2009 flu prevention PSA contest. American residents aged 14 and older are invited to create a flu video Public Service Announcement with the message of preventing or dealing with the flu, post it on YouTube, and be eligible to win $2,500. During the Flu Summit, the Obama Administration called on the nation to begin planning and preparing for the fall flu season and the new H1N1 virus. In addition to the PSA contest, a new one-stop comprehensive web site was launched, www.flu.gov, to bring together flu-related information from across HHS and other federal agencies, build on the pandemic planning information long presented on www.pandemicflu.gov, and incorporate information about the novel H1N1 flu as well as the seasonal flu.
