The National Assembly of School-based Health Care’s (NASBHC) back- to- school webinar will focus on the role of school-based health centers (SBHCs) and strategies for addressing H1N1 and seasonal flu immunizations. Participants will be able to:
• Identify H1N1 online resources available to schools
• Describe the importance of SBHCs in the vaccination process
The presenters will describe two different projects for implementing flu programs in schools. Judith Covich, Director, School Health Services, Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Maryland will share the county’s school-based flu immunization project for both the seasonal flu and H1N1.
Judith Shlay, MD, will discuss preliminary findings and implications related to two school-based immunization studies being conducted at Denver Health for which she is the principal inveritgator: Evaluating School-based Influenza Vaccination Programs that Bill Health Insurance and Examination of the Feasibility of Obtaining 3rd-Party Payer Reimbursements for Adolescent Vaccinations in the School Setting.
