Baldwin Family Health Care — a Community Health Center that operates health care delivery sites in Lake, Newaygo, Wexford, and Missaukee Counties — recently named Kathy Sather as its new President and Chief Executive Officer.
Sather has 24 years of experience in Community Health Center work. She comes to Baldwin Family Health Care from Cherry Street Health Services, a Grand Rapids-based Community Health Center, where she most recently served as Chief Operating Officer. Over the years, she also served as the Health Center’s facilities manager and Registered Nurse manager, and for seven years was director of nursing and operations at Cherry Street’s Migrant Health Center in Sparta.
“Kathy has an extensive knowledge of Community Health Centers that is coupled with an outstanding record of initiating and operating programs, and the grantsmanship that is necessary to sustain them,” said Corey VanFleet, Baldwin Family Health Care Board Chair.
Sather has guided expansion and site improvement projects, and helped to prepare state and federal grants. She earned her master’s degree in business at Davenport University, and a bachelor’s degree in nursing at Grand Valley State University.
“I am honored to lead such a great group of caring individuals who so earnestly carry the mission for the underserved. I am looking forward to continuing the good work at Baldwin Family Health Care, and although it will be big shoes to fill, I am anticipating opportunities as well as great successes for the organization,” said Sather.
She will assume her new duties with Baldwin Family Health Care on January 3, 2011.
“Kathy has been a valued member of the MPCA Board as the clinical representative, and has the vision and skills to lead Baldwin Family Health Care into its next successful era,” said Kim Sibilsky, Executive Director, Michigan Primary Care Association.
Baldwin Family Health Care is one of Michigan’s 32 Community Health Center organizations that provide quality, comprehensive, accessible primary and preventive health care to nearly 600,000 Michigan residents at over 160 sites across the state, regardless of income or insurance status.
