Family Health Center, one of Michigan’s 32 Community Health Centers, recently opened a new site in Kalamazoo to expand services and increase access to dental and behavioral health care in the community.
The building was gifted by the City of Kalamazoo and renovated with $600,000 from a Capital Improvement Program grant Family Health Center received under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. It houses five dental operatories and three behavioral health clinicians who provide outpatient therapy.
“The opening of the site has been a dream for many years,” said Denise Crawford, President and CEO of Family Health Center. “There has been such a need on the North Side of Kalamazoo for dental and behavioral health services and now we are able to assist patients with these needs and not have to send them to one of our other sites.”
As one of Michigan’s Community Health Centers, Family Health Center provides quality, comprehensive health care regardless of insurance status and it charges fees based on patient income. Family Health Center operates five other clinics in Kalamazoo and Portage.
