Lenawee United Way has named Family Medical Center of Michigan board member Burt Fenby as the 2011 Stubnitz award recipient and will honor him at their Annual Meeting on Tuesday, June 7.
“Burt is being honored for the dedication and compassion he shows for so many people in Lenawee County,” said Amy Palmer, Executive Director, Lenawee United Way. “Burt’s consistent willingness to give, advocate, and volunteer for Lenawee United Way and Lenawee County is an excellent example of how to LIVE UNITED, so we are thrilled to be able to recognize him with this award!”
This is the 31st year that Lenawee United Way has presented the Stubnitz Award to recognize exemplary commitment to the organization’s mission and the cause of volunteerism in the Lenawee community. The award is named for local philanthropist and businessman, Maurice Stubnitz.
Mr. Fenby has been a member of the Family Medical Center of Michigan’s Board of Directors since September 2009. Family Medical Center of Michigan, one of Michigan’s 32 Community Health Center organizations, operates five service centers in Monroe, southeastern Wayne, and southeastern Lenawee Counties. Their doors are open to everyone in the community regardless of insurance status, and their wide range of services are affordable because fees are based on patients’ income.
“Since Burt joined the Board of Directors with the merger of the Lenawee Dental Clinic he has been a true voice of the uninsured and underserved residents of Lenawee County and beyond. This honor is well deserved and we are fortunate to have Burt in our Board,” said David Brown, Board Chair, Family Medical Center of Michigan.
Mr. Fenby is also the Lenawee County Director at Community Action Agency.
