Michigan Primary Care Association (MPCA) Community HealthCorps members are being celebrated this week as part of Michigan’s AmeriCorps Week. MPCA Community HealthCorps is committed to “Serving Our Communities by Building a Healthier Michigan through Patient-Centered, Community-Focused Navigation. “ During a one-year term at partner sites across the state, including Health Centers, the members serve as Community Health Navigators. They seek to address health disparities prevalent in the community through health education and outreach efforts (including enrollment initiatives), supporting the development of new collaborative partnerships to address community health, and helping in the development and integration of a skilled-volunteer base to strengthen the promotion of community health.
MPCA’s AmeriCorps members will be participating in several Michigan AmeriCorps Week projects and events this week. Many of the projects are open to outside volunteers and are listed here. Michigan’s AmeriCorps Week will be hosting a Twitter Chat on March 13 at 12 pm ET.
